Comic book character - alter egos

After researching comic book characters, how they are developed and how comic art is created by the professionals students designed a character to reflect their own personalities with special powers and special gadgets attached to their super hero suits! After creating their character they then created a short comic strip.

The project took an entire term but it was well worth it and the outcomes where amazing.

'Colour' magazine collages

Student choosing their favourite colours were instructed to create a collage using those colours from ripped up magazine pictures.

Animation puppetry with Tony Lawrence

In conjunction with the 'Artists in Schools Project' animator Tony Lawrence came to our school and taught Level 4 students how to make a claymation puppet as well how to create a short stop frame animation film. It was a lot of hard work and I think we may have broke the record for the most stop frame animation puppets made at once!! but it was well worth the blisters on my fingers from drilling 100 bits of wood together as the results were fantastic and the students learnt a lot.
The students made the puppets in art with me, then wrote their haiku poems and planned their story boards with their class teacher and then created the movie with Tony.

The resulting product, much to Tony's credit is excellent.
Have a look!!
