My many coloured days - colour as emotion prep books

After reading 'My many coloured days' by Dr Seuss students explored way to convery emotion using colour. They completed three enotions expressing them udsing their bodies, drawign them in oil pastel and then painting a wax resist to coincide with the emotion to finish off the work. It was great fun and most students really understood the way that colour can be used to convey emtion. The students face has been covered for privacy.

2010 School Fete - Art exhibition

For the 2009 school fete I organised an art exhibition as my contribution to the fundraising on the day. Every student in the school had a piece of art in the exhibition. We worked for a whole term to complete the work.
Level 4 made recycled cardboard masterpieces copying a famous artwork and recreating it using only recycled cardboard.
Level 3 made self portraits using various recycled materials focusing on colour and texture
Level 2 created alter ego cartoon characters
Level 1 made a box city
It was a wonderful success on the day with family and friends coming through the exhibition all day.

Detailed shell sketches

After conducting various sketching exercises students were required to draw a detailed sketch of a shell they had studied in detail in the previous exercises. The results surprised the students as much as me.

Collaborative textured birds

In small groups students experimented creating patterns and texture to create a collaborative colourful bird.

Black and white portraits on newspaper

Grade 5 and 6 students conducted various drawing and painting activities using only black and white. This activity saw the students paint a portrait of a peer in black and white on newspaper with some very surprising and fantastic results.
