Mathematics and Art

This term I was challenged by the fact that the Level 3 focus for this term was Mathematics and I really wanted to introduce to the students how closely Mathematics and Art can be tied together. Over the term we looked at symmetry, patterns and tessellations. They really enjoyed the radial symmetry name activity which transformed their name into a complex beautiful pattern. They also enjoyed the challenge of tessellations. They discovered that once they got started they weren't as hard as they seemed.
